Little Cove Beach
Our Noosa beachfront accommodation is directly across from Little Cove Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on the Sunshine Coast.
Little Cove Beach is one of four small pocket beaches along the base of the north facing slopes of the Noosa National Park. This 100m pocket of north-west facing sand is only 100m east of renowned Noosa Main Beach, around small Johnson Point.
So close to town, but also secluded, pandanus-lined and backing national park, it’s easy to see why Little Cove is one of Australia’s most scenic and most popular beaches.
Swimming, fishing and surfing at Little Cove
Little Cove isn’t patrolled but is still a pretty safe place to swim. Waves average less than 0.5m and rips are rare. By the shoreline, the water can be shallow and the waves gentle. The sandy beach, with its lush surrounds and views out to North Shore is a tranquil environment to sunbathe, have a picnic or immerse yourself in the natural environment.
The rocky points are a popular spot for rock fishing, however, be careful out on Noosa Head, as the rocks are steeper and more exposed. The best time to go fishing is either at night, or from dawn to about 10am. To be safe, check out the Noosa fishing report before you head out.
This section of coast provides Noosa with its world-famous point breaks, one of which is off Johnson Point, or Johnson’s, as it is known to surfers. A larger east to south swell is needed to get all the points working, with length of ride also increasing with swell size. It can look deceptively gentle as rolling swells from the outer bays hit shallow water, however Johnson’s often produces the fastest, hollowest waves of all.
